The collections illustrated by Sweet Coquelicot!
Whether it’s through a collaboration or simply out of a desire to immerse myself in a very specific world, I love the idea of creating a collection to explore a theme from top to bottom. To create a collection, I start by making a mood board—a collage of visuals that, when combined, capture the various key aspects of a theme (to get a clearer idea of what a mood board looks like, check out my blog post on the subject, “Why Work with Mood Boards?”). This mood board will serve as the main guide for creating the collection. It will help me make choices regarding graphics, textures, shapes, and colors, and even guide me in deciding which media to use for the illustrations. For example, for a Christmas-themed design, I’ll want to use it on wrapping paper or greeting cards.
